Breast cancer awareness month is a time for us to show support to those in our community who have been affected by it in some way. Here at SOS, many of our team members families have dealt with the trails of breast cancer, as have so many of our clients. Chances are at some point you will interact with a client who has been affected, whether you are aware of it or not. This October, and all months of the year, we can help those in our community dealing with breast cancer in a number of ways.

Make it known

One of the easiest ways and most common ways to show your support for those fighting breast cancer is to dress up in pink and add bits of color to your office. You could tie pink ribbons to tree trunks, wear a small pink ribbon broach, or change your typical outfit to incorporate the shade. Marketing by SOS offers breast cancer awareness t-shirts to any orthodontic or dentist office looking for an easy way to show support. If a change of uniform isn’t your style, the other possibilities are endless, from flower arrangements to pink pens at a front desk. Consider posting about breast cancer awareness month online, on your website or social media.

Join the fight

Another simple, albeit more hands on, way to show your support for people fighting breast cancer is to find a way to donate to a fund that supports those diagnosed and their families. It’s up to you whether or not this money comes from a portion taken from purchases made during a certain period, or maybe a donation box set up in the front office. Making your clients aware of your project and involving them is a great way to remind the community that you care about them outside of their visits to your office.

Show up

If real-time community engagement is something you’re looking for, there is always the option for you and your stuff to volunteer with charities. Or take a day to participate in a race that supports those living with breast cancer. Not only is this a chance for you and your staff to spend time together outside of the workplace, but it allows you to connect to your clients on a personal level. Getting out and joining the community in a physical capacity will not only help them, but will help you gain greater empathy for the cause.

Coordinating one or more of these methods into your office isn’t an easy task, but it is one that allows you to connect with your client base on a personal level.
