As dental/orthodontic professionals, whom exactly are we trying to reach through social media? The typical target market for orthodontic and dental practices is a mother, ages 25-49. Social media avenues are one of the easiest places to reach a mom in this age range and are, for the most part, inexpensive to use which makes social media a great place to fish.

So, which ones do you use? With all of the social media platforms available to businesses, it would take hours to post on all of them. We have found that the most successful social medias to reach your target market are Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Luckily, Facebook allows you to connect your Facebook account to your Twitter account so anything you post on your Facebook page will also appear on your Twitter page.

There are also programs that allow you to install “tabs” on your Facebook business page for social medias like Pinterest and YouTube. This way, a potential new patient has access to all of your avenues in one page so they can spend time researching on the one that they feel most comfortable using. It is also important to have buttons on your website to each of your social media accounts.
